Barton Portrait is a custom portrait studio serving Downriver, Metro Detroit, and all of Southeast Michigan.  We offer beautiful, artistic portraits, highly skilled retouching, and impeccable customer service. We use professional, state of the art equipment and archival materials.  We specialize in photographing everyone in the family from newborn to legacy both individually and collectively. Sessions are available in studio or on location throughout Downriver, Metro Detroit, and Michigan.

I believe that you are a work of art.  I also believe that every person is unique and will create original portrait art to suit your wants, needs, and personality.  I offer a relaxed, personalized experience that will leave you feeling confident inside and out!



When you contact me for an appointment, we will schedule a pre-session consultation. I prefer to meet you in person, but I understand that can be tough with some schedules, so I am happy to do a phone consult. We will discuss your goals for your session, your preferred location, session style, wardrobe, and more and all of your questions will be answered. My goal is to get to know you and better understand how I can create an amazing experience personalized just for you from start to finish.  You will go home with a written welcome guide that is designed to help you prepare for your big day and highlighting everything we talked about.

Senior sessions last approximately 1.5 to 2-hours.  Outfit changes are only limited to your session time.  Multiple locations are included with only a couple of restrictions. Pets, BFF and Family shots can be included within reason (some restrictions apply).

All sessions include complimentary cap & gown shots.  I do not stock cap & gowns so if you don't have yours yet, we will schedule a day to come back to the studio and get some C&G shots.


After your senior session, we will schedule your reveal and ordering appointment. This is where the excitement begins. You will start with a beautiful slideshow of all your finished images and set to music. You will then view each image individually and choose your favorites.  I will show you the beautiful professional products that I offer and guide you through the selection process and answer all of your questions.





How do I book a shoot or get more info?

You may fill out the contact form or call me directly. Emails are responded to within 48 hours.


How far in advance should I schedule my session?

The earlier the better! I typically book 2-6 weeks in advance, but can also often get you in last minute. The further out you book, the more time we have to plan a unique creative experience. Sometimes, venues must be booked in advance or items may need to be ordered and we want to be sure there is enough time to do so.


What should I wear?

This is by far my most asked question. You will be provided with a what to wear style guide with your welcome kit when you book.


Where do I change my clothes?

I have a portable changing room for travel and a dressing room in the studio.


Should I get my hair & makeup done?

I highly recommend it for professional photography. My high-end professional camera and lighting has a different effect and can have a huge impact on your images. Choose the HMU add-on and I will arrange for a professional to be at the studio when you arrive.


Will you tell me how to pose during my shoot?

Absolutely! I will guide you into poses that have the look and feel of the style you chose for your session.


How long does my session last? 

Sessions are typically 2-hours giving you time for several outfit changes.


How many outfit changes do I get?

Outfit changes are only limited to your session time.


Can I get photos with my pet, BFF, or family? 

Yes, with only a couple of restrictions.  We can discuss this during your consultation.


Who should I bring with me to my shoot? 

Some young people are not comfortable and feel more nervous and pressured when people are watching them so although you are welcome to bring anyone, I highly suggest you keep it to a bare minimum and bring only those who need to be there and that you are comfortable in front of.


When do I view my pictures?

Approximately 1-2 weeks following your photoshoot you will return to the studio for your reveal ordering appointment.


How much does it cost?

The amount you invest is completely up to you. It starts with choosing your session and then 1-2 weeks after your session you will purchase products that suit your wants and needs. Session pricing is listed below.


What products do you offer?

Wall Art, Albums, Keepsake Boxes, Printed items, and Digitals Negatives.


Is there a minimum order requirement?

No. But, my typical client usually invests an average of $400+


How long does it take to receive the products I order?

That will depend on what you order. Most items usually arrive within 1-2 weeks. During holiday seasons it could be longer. I also carry some products in the studio so you can leave the studio with them that day. 


What if the weather is bad on the day of my shoot?

We simply reschedule or in some cases we can move to the studio.


What if we need to reschedule or cancel our session?

Do you offer a rewards program?

ABSOLUTELY!!  I offer studio reward credit for a couple of things. Please see my REWARDS PROGRAM for complete details.


Add professional hair & makeup $100

Your sitting fee is due at the time of booking and reserves your session appointment date. Your sitting fee includes your pre-session consultation where we will plan your session, a written prep guide to help you prepare and remind you of our plan, use of our studio wardrobes and props, your portrait session time, cap & gown headshots, post-processing of your images, and a private viewing/ordering appointment. ​ It Does Not include any digital or physical products.  Prints, products, and digital files are purchased separately 1-2 weeks after your session. 

One - two weeks after your session, you will return to the studio to view your proofs and purchase your chosen products.  I offer Albums, Canvas, and Digital collections.  My typical client usually invests an average of $400+
