The women on your website all look like models. Do you shoot everyday women?
Yes, Absolutely that is my specialty. All of the women you see in my portfolio, except one, are everyday women, can you tell who the model is? My guess is no, you cannot and that is my goal. You need absolutely ZERO modeling experience or knowledge to rock out a photoshoot with Barton Portrait. Your experience is FULLY GUIDED. You will be coached, posed, encouraged, and celebrated every step of the way. We make client-comfortability our top priority.
Do you offer more than boudoir?
Yes. Although my main focus is women and teen girls. I do offer portrait sessions for individuals, couples, families, teens, and children.
Do you offer couple boudoir sessions?
The answer is yes, however, the style has limits. Contact me for details.
Are you going to put my boudoir pictures online?
No, I absolutely respect your privacy and will Not put your images online in any capacity without your written permission. All clients on my website and social media have given me written permission to do so. My model release has a few options to choose from. You can choose to give no permission, give some permission or give all permission. You have complete control of your images. All options are discussed in detail in your prep guide and again at your reveal appointment.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes, I do offer payment plan options. This is a fulfilling, powerful, and beautiful experience and I want to make it easy for you to say yes to YOURSELF. Don't let cost deprive you of taking time for yourself! There are several ways to pay for your products including in-house financing for those with less than perfect credit.
Will there be any men at my shoot?
Barton Portrait consists of an all-female team. Our goal is to make you look amazing and feel completely comfortable. The photographer, makeup artists, and hairstylist will always be women, so you can feel completely safe and comfortable.
Where do we shoot?
Most sessions take place in my private home studio in Taylor, MI but we can shoot almost anywhere the possibilities are almost endless. You can choose to shoot in your own home, at a local hotel, a bed & breakfast, the beach, a park, or most any other location. I do Not charge an additional fee for on-location sessions within 10 miles of my home studio. Locations outside of 10 miles will be charged according to the distance. If you choose a hotel, B&B or any place that charges a fee, you will be responsible for the additional cost including any parking fees. If you would like to shoot somewhere other than my studio, please be sure to mention it during our consultation.
What do I wear?
First, that will depend on the type and style of shoot you choose. I have a studio wardrobe with a few elegant dresses and ballgowns. We will discuss wardrobe during your planning consult and your prep guide also has a few pages dedicated to the wardrobe. I also offer a complimentary fitting appointment so you can be sure everything looks and fits exactly as you want before shoot day. I like to do this appointment about a week or two prior to your photoshoot so you have time to make any last-minute changes if needed.
What type of boudoir images can I expect?
As you can see in my portfolio I like to keep things sexy, classy, and tasteful. We will discuss in detail the overall feel and style of your desired session during our planning consultation.
Do you supply the lingerie for a boudoir shoot?
Due to the intimacy of lingerie, I do not supply lingerie. I do, however, have a few items meant to compliment the items you bring. Believe it or not, you can be very sexy in many items right from your own (or his) closet. You do not need to buy lingerie to have a boudoir session. With that said, If you want to buy a few bombshell lingerie outfits, there are many options. Your session prep guide has a couple of pages dedicated to what to wear and where to get it. I also offer a complimentary fitting appointment where I can help you choose your outfits and make sure everything fits just right before your big day.
Do you do nude photos?
Nudity is not part of my regular shooting routine, however; by request, I will do 'fine art' nudes and 'implied nudes' (implied meaning you look nude but are not). I will not photograph any private parts with the exception of the classic tush shot. Nudity is entirely up to you. I can pose you nude to show off your female form without showing any genitalia. If you would like to shoot nude, I will photograph you in a comfortable, tasteful way that showcases your beauty and leaves much to the imagination.
How much retouching do you do?
I believe in retouching to enhance your natural beauty. I will make you your most beautiful without making you someone you are not. We will discuss the level of retouching you want during your consultation. Standard retouching includes skin smoothing, removing and/or diminishing imperfections, lightening under-eye circles, softening wrinkles, a nip and a tuck here and there, teeth, and eye brightening. More extensive retouching is rarely needed but is available.
How do I get my images?
Approximately 2 weeks after your session you will return to the studio to see your finished images and make your purchase. Some products will be available to take home that day and others will need to be ordered that can take up to 2 weeks.
What is the difference between printing rights and copyrights?
Personal printing rights are granted with all digital files that you purchase allowing you to print your images for personal purposes only.
Contrary to popular belief if you hire a photographer to photograph you that does Not mean you 'own' the pictures they take of you.
Under the Federal Copyright Act of 1976, photographs are protected by copyright from the moment of creation. According to the U.S. Copyright Office, the owner of the “work” is generally the photographer or, in certain situations, the employer of the photographer. Photographers don't generally give or sell their copyrights. You are almost always just given a license to print for personal purposes and or share on social media. Any other use is illegal and can be legally challenged. However, if you purchase copyrights, you will own and have full control of your photos allowing you to do anything you wish with them, including using them for profit. Unlike most photographers, I do sell full ownership and copyrights in my complete digital collection. They are not automatically included with all digital collections. Other collections only include personal printing rights. By purchasing the complete copyright collection, you Do get all of your final culled files in both PSD (photoshop) and Jpg format. All of your images are then purged from my computer permanently.
What does culled mean?
Culling is a sorting process in which photographers go through all the images taken from your session and separate and delete the bad photos from the good. Many times this means the photos that are duplicates or out of focus or for some reason will not make the final cut to be edited.
How far in advance should I book my session?
The sooner the better. Due to the growing popularity of this genre, my calendar tends to fill 3-6 weeks in advance. Plus you will want this time to prepare. With that said, don't hesitate to check with me if you need something sooner. I can sometimes get you in sooner.
Can I bring anyone with me to my 'boudoir' shoot?
I understand that you would love to have your friend there and think that it would make you feel more comfortable; however, this is not like a shopping trip, in fact, by all means, take her shopping with you for your outfits, but I have found that having guests present on some photoshoots actually makes you more uncomfortable. I like to keep it as intimate as possible so you don’t feel pressured to perform. Clients have told me that they were more able to relax without an audience. If your friend would also like her own photoshoot on the same day, then, of course, I would make an exception. Absolutely, No children, pets, or men allowed during a boudoir photoshoot, Ever! No Exceptions!!
Can I bring anyone with me to my 'beauty' shoot?
Again, it is usually best not to for your own comfort level, trust me you will be more relaxed without an audience. But this time it is up to you. I do, however, limit the number of guests to one that is not being photographed. Men and children are obviously welcome if we are doing a family or couples shoot.
